The AA Appraised sticker is presented on the inside of the vehicle windscreen, providing you with the peace of mind and confidence of driving a used car that has had an AA Appraisal. Valid for 3 months from the date of appraisal or 500km, whichever occurs first.
Plus our cars are thoroughly checked, so you can be sure there’s no finance owing and that they haven’t been stolen or written off.

Test drive, cover and same day drive-away
When you are buying a car, especially a used car, a test drive is vital. It’s quick and easy with Portage Cars. We make it easier for you to arrange comprehensive cover and if the car is available, drive away the same day.
Test Drive Documentation to bring:
– Valid driving licence
If you are purchasing on behalf of a company: – Full NZ driving licence
– 2 proofs of address
– utility bills or bank statements
– Certificate of Incorporation (making sure it has the company registration details)
– Company GST number
– The Company’s accountant’s details
– The Ltd company’s bank details
Applying for finance
With so much to sort out when you are buying a car, it’s great to know that we’re here to help get you covered. You can choose to apply online or in person. You may choose to apply for finance before you have chosen your car. This way you know exactly what your budget is, before you start looking.
Finance Documentation to bring:
– Your NZ driving licence
– NZ Passport if using NZ driving licence
– Two proofs of address dated within the last 90 days, e.g bank statement, council tax statements or other utility bill (sorry, we’re unable to accept mobile phone bills)
– Proof of income and self-employment

Thanks for the great service provided by Sam. We were looking for a economical runabout after our much loved little Toyota Echo was hit while parked and written off. We had our eyes set on a Nissan Note E Power for which there there were a few in the yard at Portage Sam helped us with picking the one he thought was best suited. A few minor scratches and a small dent were sorted straight away and the paperwork done and dusted without any issues. We have only driven the Note for a few days now but it is a fantastic little car. We hope to have a long reliable run out of it like our last car.
